Barahona is quite light in caffeine but boasts rich and well-balanced fruity aroma, characteristic for coffees from the Caribbean islands.

For the Dominican Republic, besides tourism, coffee export is one of the main economic factors. Coffee comes from the northwestern part of the island, a very fertile region called Barahona. Due to cold winds and humid and cloudy weather over the plantations, coffee ripens slowly, which gives it its characteristic fruity aroma.
