Malawi, located between Tanzania and Zimbabwe, produces high-quality Arabica. Plantations are located in southern Malawi in the cities of Thyolo, Mulanje, Zomba and Mangochi. Although Malawi is a landlocked country, it has nevertheless managed to establish a successful export economy for agricultural products. About 500,000 small farmers now live from coffee production. Unlike other African countries where coffee is grown, coffee trees in Malawi are planted on terraces to prevent soil erosion.
